Shopping & Performance Max
We configure Shopify Markets for local currency, region-specific pricing, duties and tax, language localization and country-specific domains so international customers get a checkout experience that feels local, not translated.
Shopify makes it look simple: enable a market, pick a currency, done. In practice, that’s the part that takes ten minutes the part that determines whether international expansion actually works is everything underneath it. Currency conversion without proper regional pricing means customers in one country pay awkward, non-rounded prices that look untrustworthy at checkout. A $49.99 product converted at a live exchange rate might show as €46.73, which feels foreign and undermines the exact “local” experience Shopify Markets is supposed to create. Getting this right means setting fixed, market-specific price points, not just letting the exchange rate decide.
Duties and taxes are where most international launches quietly fail. Depending on the market, customers either need duties and import tax calculated and included at checkout (DDP) or need to understand they’ll pay it on delivery (DDU) get this wrong and you get abandoned carts, refused deliveries, or angry customers hit with unexpected charges. Add in destination-specific tax registration thresholds, VAT requirements in the EU and UK, and product restrictions that vary by country, and “enabling a market” becomes a compliance project as much as a technical one. On top of that, checkout, shipping rates and delivery estimates all need to be configured per market a customer in Germany shouldn’t see US shipping options or delivery timelines that don’t apply to them.
The final layer is content, not just commerce. Real localization means translated product pages and checkout, not just converted prices and it means deciding whether a country-specific domain, subdomain or subfolder structure fits your SEO strategy, since each approach affects how Google indexes and ranks your international pages differently. For merchants adding regional B2B accounts or country-specific wholesale pricing on top of markets, this setup also needs to align with your B2B and wholesale configuration so pricing logic doesn’t conflict across the two systems. Done properly, Shopify Markets lets you run true multi-country selling from one store but only when currency, tax, shipping and content are configured deliberately for each market, not left on defaults.
What’s Included
We assess your existing traffic, order data and target markets to determine which countries to launch first, and whether each needs its own market, domain structure or currency setup.
We configure fixed, market-specific price points for each currency rather than relying on live exchange rate conversion, so pricing looks intentional and trustworthy in every region.
We configure DDP or DDU settings by market, set up VAT/tax registration handling where required, and ensure customers see accurate landed costs before they check out not a surprise charge on delivery.
We set region-specific shipping rates, delivery estimates and checkout language/fields per market, so customers see relevant, accurate information instead of generic US or default-market settings.
We set up translated product pages, collections and checkout content per market, going beyond auto-translation to ensure messaging and terminology fit each region properly.
We configure the right domain approach (ccTLD, subdomain or subfolder) for your markets and align it with proper hreflang and indexing setup, so international pages rank correctly in each country's search results.
We configure Shopify's native Markets functionality for currency, domains, duties and market-specific catalogues, using Shopify's own infrastructure wherever it covers the requirement.
For merchants needing full landed-cost calculation, localized checkout and compliance automation, we implement and configure Shopify Markets Pro for duties, taxes and cross-border logistics.
We use dedicated translation apps to manage multi-language storefronts, going beyond machine translation defaults with reviewed, market-appropriate copy.
We integrate tax calculation tools to handle VAT, GST and region-specific tax rules accurately across every market you sell in.
We implement proper hreflang tagging and market-specific sitemaps so search engines index and rank the correct country/language version of each page.

FAQ
No. Basic Shopify Markets features are available on all plans. Shopify Markets Pro, which includes full landed-cost calculation and compliance automation, requires eligibility criteria and is typically used by higher-volume international sellers.
In most cases, one store with Shopify Markets is the better approach — it centralizes inventory, orders and admin while still giving each market localized pricing, currency and content. Separate stores are usually only needed for very different regional business models or regulatory requirements.
Not if duties are configured correctly. We set up DDP (duties paid at checkout) where appropriate, so customers see the full landed cost upfront instead of an unexpected charge at delivery.
Not necessarily some markets only need currency and shipping localization if the language is shared. We assess this per market based on language, customer expectations and competitive landscape.
A single new market with currency, shipping and basic localization typically takes 2–4 weeks. Full language localization and tax/duty compliance setup can extend this depending on the country's requirements.
